A 10-yrs old boy simply identified as Destiny has drowned in one of the beaches located at Oteri-Ughelli community community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
It was learned that, Destiny had gone with his friends to swim at the beach when the unfortunate incident occurred last Wednesday.
According to a source from the community, “There was an instructions from a seer that warned everyone from going to the river to either bath or swim an instruction that was ignored.
The anonymous source said, “A little boy allegedly drowned in oteri river, they refused to heed to the warning even making mockery of the river goddess.
“The body still dey under water as he corpse is yet to be recovered yet.”
The president general of Oteri-Ughelli community, Chief Simon Egbe could not be contacted as his number was not connecting as at the time of this report.
A security source from the Ughelli Area Command that confirmed the identity of the deceased as Destiny Emafakpoto said,” Yes search and rescue team has been initiated.”
As at the time of this report, an unconfirmed source disclosed that the remains of the victim has been discovered and buried according to the customs and tradition of the community.
